Editorial Guidelines
Our guidelines are more flexible than most distribution services, so most releases are approved exactly as you send them, usually within a few hours. If something really needs a change, you get one clear note on what to fix. A few hard limits always apply, and each publisher may add its own rules.
How review works
Every release is reviewed before distribution for basic accuracy, publisher fit, and anything that crosses a hard limit. You don't need to rewrite your announcement to pass a strict checklist. Once it's approved, distribution timing depends on your package and outlets.
Bring real news
Lead with a launch, appointment, partnership, event, report, expansion, milestone, or another clear update. A release that reads only like an advertisement may need a stronger news angle.
Support the claims
Be ready to back up rankings, awards, market figures, performance numbers, scientific claims, partnerships, and quotes. Attribute opinions to a named person or organization. Don't promise financial returns or medical results, and don't use superlatives such as “best” or “first” without a credible source.
Name the source
Use your legal or recognized company name, a working website, and a media contact who answers email. Quotes should come from a real person with an accurate title.
Use content you own
You need permission for the text, images, logos, data, and quotes you submit. Don't copy another release, or use an image found online without the rights to it.
Hard limits
We don't accept false or unverifiable claims, defamation, impersonation, deceptive financial promises, or content you don't have the rights to publish. The same goes for hate, exploitation, malware, privacy violations, instructions for wrongdoing, and illegal goods, services, or content. Some restricted industries may need a specific network and extra review.
Publisher rules
Each outlet and distribution partner may apply its own rules on top of ours, and may edit, format, label, or decline a release. Paying for distribution doesn't override those rules.
Make edits before launch
Answer editorial questions quickly so your release isn't held up. Once distribution starts, corrections may be limited, delayed, or impossible for copies that are already published.
